While the world is currently met with some uncertainty we have been waking to some spectacular mornings. We’re feeling very grateful for our fuel capacity and our limited fuel usage use each trip that’s for sure! I feel doing these reviews has really highlighted the impact the weather has on our operation, although the weather is also what carved out our magnificent landscape so we can not be too critical! Perhaps it’s just been this season, or we quickly forget.. however it definitely seems to be unseasonably windy this year!
This has meant that Faith has spent more time than normal down on her mooring. No need for us to go to the gym rowing out to her every morning and rowing back every night. Our inflatable tender even decided to break loose on one trip from the mooring to the wharf!!
Rainbows, rain showers picturesque mornings and a visit from our 4 legged friend, we’ve had it all this week. It’s heart warming to have so many New Zealanders join us. Our community is incredibly supportive and its often that there is a connection to us and passengers or our region and passengers. We’ve had members of the glider club come out this week while down at Manapouri airport flying. I (Megan) was presented with my 4 bar epaulettes on my shirt, finally feeling like a skipper! Thank you to Fiona (a passenger) who filmed Adam applying these to my shirt!
We finished the week where we started, on the Mooring, and took the time to enjoy the view, a few cheese and crackers to end the week, before rowing back to shore again.
Everyday we are reminded why we love what we do, and despite all the sanding, restoration, wind and rain, we truly do love being able to share our corner of the world with you all!
Chat next week!
Megan, Adam & Ava, your Fiordland Historic Cruises Team.
